February Picnics

We have realized that with little kids going out to eat is a bit more stressful than fun, but who wants to miss out on good food that you don't have to cook every once in awhile? So we decided to get our enchiladas to go, and take them to the park. It was Ilon's idea of a fabulous dinner.

Aaron is dismayed that Ilon is eating hers sideways. Against the rules, little Sauce.

Nice view, eh?

Picture Perfect

Our family is oh so photogenic, always smiling, always looking at the camera, never a hair out of place.

Ilon: "Cheese, Gabriel, say cheese!"
Gabriel: "waaaaaah"

Ilon: "Gabriel, say cheese!"
Gabriel: "waaaaaaaaaaaaaah!"

Ilon: "Mom, this isn't fun."
Gabriel: "waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah"

Ilon: "Seriously, mom, make him stop."

Valentine's Day

Some would say America totally capitalizes on money-making holidays, such as Valentine's Day. I say any excuse to have a date or a party is fine with me. This year we started out at the lake. Little Gabriel in his Vday outfit below:

Then my parents very nicely celebrated their vday with our children, thanks Nana and Papa, and we went out. Jeng Chi is our absolutely favorite place to eat, the kind of food where you start salivating just thinking about it. Or at least Aaron does... I didn't include that picture. Anyway, we took a bottle of wine and had their famous spinach noodle soups, potstickers and dumplings.

After dinner we realized we couldn't get the cork back in and had the option of A) giving the rest of the bottle away (not likely) B) throwing it away (also, not likely) or C) chugging it (not the best idea for a breast-feeding mother and designated driver). So we chose option D, Izzie holding the opened bottle between her toes in the car for the rest of the evening. Which took us to the Richardson Symphony's Music for Lovers. We got free tickets, thanks Glenn Wamble, to a fantastic show. They played music from Norah Jones to Sleepless in Seattle, to George Gershwin and Paul McCartney. Afterwards Aaron left with the desire to watch all the classics: Casablanca, Beaches, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Gone With the Wind, how have we missed seeing all of these? So we'll probably have a very romantical day with the oldies soon, if anyone wants to join. It was the longest we have been away by ourselves since the Gabe joined us, quite a treat and very relaxing (other than the balancing act with the wine). Hope everyone had a fun Vday,
Aaron and Izzie

hmmm

It is 4:38 am and I am wide awake. One of the few times everyone in my house is asleep and no one is hungry or in need of a diaper change, and I can't sleep. By the way a certain 2-yr old that lives with me changed her poopy diaper during her nap today "all by self, mama". Just picture poop smeared into the fibers of carpet, pillow cases, lion's upper lip, and Rise the Moon, a favorite book that will be burned tomorrow. I can still smell it. Sick.

By the way, mom, I am now on chapter 32 of a Pioneer Woman's love story, she is hilarious and I can't stop reading. thepioneerwoman.com if anyone wants to check it out.

Back to the saga...

the cooking queen!

Ilon has taken to cooking in the kitchen. Her favorite thing to make is enchiladas. This is her most recent recipe:
Ilon's Enchiladas:

ramen noodles
sugar
beans
coconut milk
tomato sauce
mix and eat
We're not brave enough to try it yet!

Our little g

we are trying out the g diaper, a super-cut outer layer with a biodegradable inside that you can flush (following directions without clogging the toilet...oops).

A day at the lake

I love going to the lake. It is peaceful and pretty and almost always worth the hour long drive singing The Little Mermaid's dance version of "Part of Your World"; which we made the mistake of introducing to our little Ilon.
