Happy Anniversary to me.
I have been working as a nurse for 1 year today! It has been an eye-opening experience and I have learned more than I imagined in just one year. It also showed me how much more I have to learn. This last week I chased after a mentally challenged patient ducking swings trying desperately to replace the clothes thrown across the hall, cared for a patient on a ventilator who probably won't ever know who I was or how many times I suctioned blood out of their mouth, and spoke broken spanish to a very "patient" patient who came to know my spanish-english dictionary as well as I did. No week is ever the same. I took care of a darling little lady who was hard of hearing and dubbed me "Wheezy" from the start of the shift and called me that all week. She called the hospital after she went home to tell them what a good job we did taking care of her. I think it took a few minutes for them to figure out who "Wheezy" was... but it felt good that people remember what you do.

Happy Mother's Day!

I had a wonderful Mother's Day! I drew Aaron a picture of something I wanted for our backyard so the kids could play and I could relax. He decided to build me a table with benches an umbrella and a sandbox. MUCH cooler than my picture. He also did it in a day. What a sweetie. We had a picnic lunch in the backyard and went to the mountains. Aaron took us to a dam that shoots water out at an amazing rate and could probably take us under in an instant never to be seen again. Pretty cool. Gabe liked it the most, he was cranking his neck to see it long after we walked away.

Ilon and I have been watching the hummingbirds and decided to make a hummingbird feeder. We haven't seen one since...
