Willow Lake

Aaron and I went backpacking to Willow Lake. Let's just say it was a lot easier in our 20's, we feel creaky and blistered. The hike starts in Crestone and goes up to about 11,000 feet. There is a lake, probably one of many, nestled at the base of huge peaks. We both climbed here in college but had forgotten how amazing it is!

There is a canoe stashed at the lake, I can only imagine how it got there. We took it for an early morning ride and got a close up of the waterfall. Pretty serene to be out in the middle of a lake on top of a mountain. We spent the morning fishing, reading, relaxing, and got an early start out. Thankfully the hike down is a lot quicker and we stopped for cold soda's at a Tea shop in Crestone.

A treat from Down Under!

We got a surprise in the mail from Australia this week, Tim Tam Slams! Thanks Tracey! The whole family gave them a try, they haven't changed a bit, chocolatey gooey goodness. You sure don't look pretty doing it but it's worth every bite.

We took a walk around town in the rain tonight, I love Colorado evenings.

Reunited.

We had a great weekend with good friends from college that we hadn't seen in far too long. Jessica and Tristan came from Tennesee with Tristan's 3 kiddos in tow. It was great to catch up and the kids adored each other. We went to Zapata Falls and the Sand Dunes, played outside, and basically had an awesome time!

Aaron set off a little fireworks show and the kids did sparklers in the RAIN! That's right, 20 minutes of wonderful beautiful rain and thunder, I've missed my storms!

I have to work on the 4th of July so we had a pre-holiday dinner of kabobs and home-made strawberry popsicles. Happy 4th of July everyone!
